Glass Storage
Glass can be easy to store over the summer, or it can be difficult.
It's easy if you have a lot of room in your yard, and you don't mind what your neighbors or your spouse thinks of glass doors leaning against a fence or wall. It can also be easy if you happen to have a large garden shed with extra room for a few glass doors. You might even consider parking a car in the driveway and giving its place to glass doors over the summer months inside the garage.
But storing glass can also be difficult.
Glass is heavy, especially thermal pane glass, and it's difficult to move by yourself. I use a wagon, and I store my glass under my porch, out of sight.
My porch is low, and the ground under it slopes away from the house foundation. I excavated a cavity into the slope large enough to accommodate my glass, and I buried cement blocks into the dirt. On the blocks, I placed two scrap aluminum sliding patio door thresholds. I stack my glass doors, one on top of the next, on these thresholds for the warm months of summer.
